WHY
BELLWETHER?
When herding sheep or goats, shepherds hang a bell around the neck of one of their flock who seems like a natural leader. The other sheep or goats follow this lead animal, the bellwether. It has come to mean "someone who takes initiative or leads the way." Also, our founder Kitty had pet goats and her goat, Bucky Boy, was her heart. She also has pet cats, but who ever heard of a cat being a leader of anything other than a revolution?

Our Origin Story
After years of working in and consulting with nonprofits, our founder, Kitty Cook Ramsey realized that nonprofits were really busy making the world a better place. They might know that they needed change (a sustainable stream of funding, a bigger and more engaged board, a better website, or maybe a plan for how they would handle either a windfall of money or the impact of a disaster), but usually were too busy fulfilling their mission to focus on honing the business side of philanthropy.
Nonprofits needed a consulting firm that could respond to their needs at any time in their business life cycle. They needed something that was affordable and timely and would help them grow to be exceptional...without impeding their daily work. They needed a team of consultants who were responsive and knowledgeable and aware of how hard they were working. In her work with philanthropists, in listening to them express frustration with figuring out how to impact their world philanthropically or hearing how they had supported an organization that didn't have the capacity to affect change, she realized that they needed someone to help guide them, too.
Bellwether Strategic Partners is a consulting group made up of business professionals who focus solely on the nonprofit/philanthropic sector and have expertise in all phases of a nonprofit business' life cycle, from a startup needing to build a board and funding to a mature organization needing to implement change.
